MART - MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF TRENTO AND ROVERETO

Among the most important and famous museums of modern art in Italy, the Mart regularly offers major thematic exhibitions and temporary exhibitions of great international importance. But the Mart is above all a collection of more than twenty thousand works of the '900, belonging to all the artistic currents of the century just past, from futurism to metaphysics, from abstraction to PopArt, in other words Modern and Contemporary Art.
Inside the structure there is also an important research center of the Museum, called "Archivio del Novecento". An integral part of the MART is the Depero Futurist Art House, whose collection is at the base of the museum's own project together with the collection of the Province of Trento.

FUTURIST ART HOUSE DEPERO

The Depero Futurist House of Art in Rovereto was created in 1957 as a house - museum by Fortunato Depero - one of the founders of the Futurist movement - with the project idea of desecrating through innovation, irony and the breaking down of any hierarchy in the arts.
In the historical center of Rovereto, the building and interiors were treated in every detail directly by the artist who died in 1960 shortly after the inauguration. To celebrate the centenary of the Futurist movement, the MART in January 2009 re-opened Casa Depero after a long restoration by architect Renato Rizzi.
The works allowed to recover the original areas designed by the artist, integrating them with two new levels always in line with the dictates of the style of Fortunato Depero.
On rotation are exposed more than three thousand objects that the artist has left as a legacy to the city of Rovereto; among these we find paintings, drawings, inlays in cloth, graphics and toys. In addition, Casa Depero presents an important program of exhibitions, tracing the original spirit of the Casa Museo to bring the artistic community closer to the city.
